About the Event

The MBSR course is very practical and accessible. It was created based on Jon Kabat-Zinn's work. He is a Professor and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic, as well as the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

This programme is based on the two most well known Mindfulness courses - MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy).

Now-a-days, various benefits of mindfulness have been scientifically studied and proven. Mindfulness is recognized worldwide by various organizations of note. The practice of MBSR improves and reinforces the immune system, making the relationship between stress reduction and quality of life improvement very evident. 

The main objective is to help train the mind by using practices, competencies and attitudes that can be accessed on a daily basis, helping you to have a more positive and aware relationship with the suffering that the mind brings onto itself through its’ thoughts and internal representations. 

Course Structure:

Besides the two and a half hour long bi - weekly sessions, the course also includes home work to be done between sessions and learning to use the Mindfulness Meditation techniques such as the Body Scan and simple Yoga postures. 

A manual and some handouts will be made available, as well as guided meditation audio recordings to support your personal formal and informal practice at home. ​

The intensive course is 4 weeks long with two 2h30 long sessions per week and one intensive retreat day to be held between session 6 and session 7.

Course dates: 

​1st session – 24th of May - Introduction to Mindfulness 

2nd session – 27th of May- Perceptions and Paradigms 

3rd session – 31st of May - Breathing and Movement - Doing mode vs Being mode

4th session – 03rd of June - Stress and reactivity patterns

5th session – 07th of June- Dealing with stress, with Mindfulness

6th session – 10th of June- Difficult communications and interpersonal Mindfulness 

Retreat day – 12th of June (from 09h00 am to 02h00pm, Online) - Practices and silence

7th session - 14th of June - Mindfulness and life choices 

8th session –  17th of June - Mindfulness as a way of life

Schedule:  09h30 am to 12h00pm

A final certificate will be handed out to those who attend ALL the sessions of the course, as this is a prerequisite for those who would like to do the MBSR/MBCT Teacher Training.
